Cantina Creative // FUI Design
Butterfly
Teaming up with Cantina Creative, I got tasked to design out the suite of graphics for the CADDIS HQ in the Amazon series “Butterfly”.
CADDIS HQ Design
I approached the Caddis design philosophy with a new mind at this era of my career. I had just recently had a wonderful conversation with my buddy Jayse Hansen on his use of the grid and modular layouts. When Cantina reached out to me about this job, I thought a giant screen with scrolling data would be the perfect place to try a modular system.
Everything needed to feel embedded like it belonged, but also that it could be swapped out depending on whatever use case. I had a lot of fun finding which composition felt the most satisfying on a 100ft (no idea how big the actual screen was) screen. This is that classic UI work that gets you excited. Spies, mission control, GPS maps, this is the work that got me into this niche growing up!
I got to do a fun exploration of the Conrad hotel in South Korea for a central point as well. The X-ray-like quality of the building, showing the levels, identifying the target... I mean come on. Classic and fun stuff.

The modular system evolved over the show to change for all types of different content. I was really happy with how all of it turned out. My good buddy Nate Jess (who refuses to have an online presence) came in for a final polish pass. It gave everything a fresh pair of eyes and pushed us just a little closer to a really nice and cohesive system.
I'm super proud of this work because of how it lives in the genre of film graphics. It felt like the classic screen work I admired growing up. I felt like I started in the industry expecting to do a lot of this - and then everyone went retro! Bring back the blue!
